Mock drill conducted ahead of 16th Presidential election

Imphal: On the eve of the 16th Presidential election of India a

Mmck drill was conducted at Manipur Legislative Assembly on Sunday.

The drill started at around 10 am, participated by state BJP president A. Sharda Devi, chief minister N. Biren Singh and other BJP MLAs and other allied political parties of NDA government.

Other than 5 Congress MLAs, 52 MLAs were seen during the drill and three MLAs did not participate the drill as they had taken leave.

The drill continued till 2 pm.

It has been speculated that all the MLAs supporting BJP other than five Congress MLAs might be casting their presidential voted in support of NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu.

Only two candidates will be fighting the presidential election. They are Draupadi Murmu from BJP who will be representing the NDA and Yashwant Sinha from AITC who will be representing the United Opposition.

To oversee the arrangements of polling and counting of the election, the ECI has appointed 37 observers from among senior IAS officers holding the rank of additional secretary and joint secretary in the ministries.

The presidential election will be started from 10 am to 5 pm on Monday.
