Nemcha inaugurates handloom showroom


Imphal: Textiles, commerce and industry minister Nemcha Kipgen on Saturday inaugurated NKC Handloom Showroom by Chongboi Kipgen at Koite, Churachandpur in the presence of MLA Paolienlal Haokip.

The minister also launched Hank to Bobbin Winding Machine during the occasion.

Highlighting the various schemes implemented by the Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles for the welfare of weavers and artisans of the state, Manipur, Nemcha encouraged the weavers and the artisans to produce the best products to showcase the rich handloom and handicrafts of Manipur to the world.

She further expressed that such platform contributes in uplifting the socio-economic life of the people, especially women folks and helped in generating employment as well as income in our society.

Manipur has around 2.12 lakh handloom weavers, around 2.11 lakh looms and around 2 lakh handicraft artisans as per the National Handloom Census Report, 2019.
