Assam Rifles foils cross border smuggling

Imphal: Modi Battalion of Assam Rifles under aegis of IGAR (S) foiled cross border smuggling near New Wankhu Tengnoupal District on Wednesday.
Based on specific intelligence, troops of Assam Rifles launched a search operation in New Wankhu, Tengnoupal district. After search of the area 10 soap cases containing Brown Sugar weighing approximately 140 gm were recovered from the side of the track.
The recovered items are assessed to be worth Rs 28 lakh. Seized items were handed over to Tengnoupal Police station for further action, the Assam Rifles said.
