Government to set stall for yarns at whole sale rate to manufacture Manipur cultural fabrics

Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh informed the House on the 3rd day of second session of 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly that yarns to manufacture local designed products will be made available at Khwairamband Ima Market.
Biren was responding as supplement of minister textile, Nemcha Kipgen’s clarification against the policy cut motion raised by opposition MLA K. Meghachandra and Th. Lokeshwar on Wednesday.
The two opposition MLAs raised policy cut motion on account of lack of proper policy for promotion of small, medium and large scale industries in the state.
Leader of the House, Biren said to promote the local products of Manipur the government has reserved a stall on the first floor of Khwairamband Ima Market. In the stall all varieties of yarns will be made available at the whole sale rate and will be run by the state government.
Recently, a students’ organisation set fire on some of the imported clothes which have same design manufactured by local looms but at lower rate to capture local market. He said to promote the local industries related to indigenous culture of Manipur, the government has also made an appeal verbally to the businessmen not to interfere on Manipur traditional clothes, Biren said.
