Rhythms of Manipur set to perform in Bangkok

Imphal: A 16-member team of the Rhythms of Manipur will participate at the 2nd North East India Festival to be held at Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, from July 29 to 31.

The festival will be organised by Trend MNS, a Guwahati based NGO working for the promotion of the region.

At the festival the  Rhythms of Manipur  team will showcase national award winning fusion music Dancing Drummers and the Manipur State Song Sana Leibak Manipur written by B. Jayentakumar and composed by Aribam Syam Sharma on July 30 and 31.

The festival will be  inaugurated by Union minister of state external affairs and education Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh while the Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K.Sangma will open the cultural segment of the festival .

The event is organised with the support of the Indian Embassy, Bangkok  and other ministries and agencies in commemorating with the 75th Years Indian Independence and India-Thailand relationship celebration.

Dance and music teams from various North Eastern states and Thai will perform at the festival. Chief ministers from various NE states, diplomats and ministers and officials of Thailand will attend the festival.

The Rhythms of Manipur  team is sponsored by the Indian Council For Cultural Relations, ministry of external affairs.

Rhythms of Manipur had performed at Singapore, Hong Kong, Port of Spain, Laos and Surin, Thailand since 2013.

The team is leaving  Imphal  for Bangkok on July 29 and will back on August 2, Rhythms of Manipur secretary R.K. Sanatomba Singh said.
