Ganesan, Biren congratulate Mirabai, Bindyarani

Imphal: Manipur governor La. Ganesan and chief minister N. Biren Singh have expressed happiness and congratulated Saikhom Mirabai Chanu and Bindyarani Sorokhaibam on winning Gold and Silver medals at Commonwealth Game held at Birmingham in Weightlifting.
Expressing his happiness the governor said Mirabai Chanu and Bindyarani Sorokhaibam have made India proud in general and Manipur in particular by these achievements. This will, indeed, act as an inspiration for their colleagues and juniors.
He conveyed his best wishes to keep up the good work and earn many more medals in their future career.
Biren said, “Overjoyed & super proud of Manipur’s superstar daughter, Mirabai Chanu on winning India’s first Gold medal at the CWG 2022 in 49 kg weightlifting category. Heartiest Congratulations & thanks for bringing laurels for India. You have kept your promise. What a proud moment. Jai Hind !” on his Facebook wall.
“Heartiest congratulations to Bindyarani Devi Sorokhaibam for winning the Silver medal in the weightlifting 55 Kg category at #CWG2022. Immensely proud of the profound contributions made by the Manipuri players to our great Nation, Jai Hind!” He said in another post.
Mirabai lifted a total of 201 kg to reap the Gold medal in the 49 kg category. Bindyarani lifted a total of 202 kg to win the Silver medal in the 55 kg category.
