Two arrested for inclusion of 10 deceased persons in MGNREGS wage lists

Imphal: Manipur Police have arrested two persons in connection with inclusion of 10 (ten) deceased persons in muster rolls/wage lists for the works implemented under MGNREGS even after their expiry and withdrawing the wages from the bank accounts of the deceased person steadily for their personal gain.

The duo have been identified as Laijing Yaima Maring, 48, of Phunal Maring, Imphal East district (currently Gram Rojgar Sevak of Keirao Makting G.P.) and Md. Riyajuddin, 47, son of late Soukat Ali of Urup Naokal, Keirao Makting, Imphal East district (husband of Ward member, Chandabi of ward number 12 of Keirao Makting G.P.).

They were arrested by vigilance and anti-corruption, Manipur in connection with FIR No. 8(7)2022 V & AC PS, a press release from SP vigilance and anti corruption said.

The case was lodged against them and other associates in connection with inclusion of the eceased persons in the MGNREGS wage lists.

The two persons have been remanded to police custody till Thursday.
