Two cadres of underground groups under SoO arrested with Heroin powder

Imphal: Manipur Police on Tuesday arrested two militants belonging to KNLF and KNO/Pakan groups which are under suspension of operation (SoO) with Heroin No.4 powder.

The duo were identified as one Paominlun, 31, son of Doukhothang of L.Bolkot village, Churachandpur and HL Seikhongam Mate, 21, son of HL.Heikhokhai Mate of Tengnoupal bazaar, Tengnoupal district.

Paominlun is a cadre of KNLF and Seikhongam is a cadre of KNO/Pakan, a police report said. Both the groups are under SoO, it added.

A team of Kakching district police, during their War on Drugs duty near Pallel Police station gate, saw a four wheeler vehicle (KWIK) bearing registration number AS02Q-1649 coming towards Pallel Police station along the National Highway-2 from Indo-Myanmar border town Moreh side at around 6: 30 am.

When the police team gave signal to stop the vehicle, it tried to escape from the police team. However, the police managed to stop the vehicle.

On questioning, the two occupants of the vehicle disclosed their identity and on examination of the vehicle, a total of 22 soap cases weighing around 272 gm of Heroin powder were detected from the floor of the co-driver’s seat, the police report said.

The two drug peddlers were arrested and seized the drugs at the spot and were taken to Kakching Police station for further necessary legal action, it added.
