Drug smuggler nabbed with about 2kg Brown Sugar in Manipur

Imphal: Officers of Anti-Smuggling unit of Customs Division, Imphal, nabbed one person along with 1939 gm of Brown Sugar at Mantripukhri, along NH-2 (Imphal – Dimapur) near Mantripukhri CRPF camp on Tuesday.

The smuggler has been identified as Md Abdul Kalam, 40, son of late Md. Satar, resident of Santhel, Thoubal. The contraband drug was carried by the accused in a plastic bag on foot, said a press statement released by deputy commissioner Customs Division, Imphal, Keerthishri S.

The recovered drug has been seized and the accused Md Abdul Kalam has been arrested under the relevant Section of the NDPS Act, 1985, it added.

The value of the seized contraband drug is estimated at Rs 1,93,90,000, the release said.Further investigation to nab the other offender(s) of the case is going on, it added.
