Over 2 kg Brown Sugar, 10k WY tablets seized at Indo-Myanmar border

Imphal: Assam Rifles on Wednesday recovered 2.075 kg of Brown Sugar and 10,000 WY tablets, which were concealed inside a vehicle at Mobile Vehicle Check Post in Tengnoupal, Indo-Myanmar border district in Manipur.

The ​Tengnoupal battalion under the aegis of IGAR (South) during the routine security checking at the check post, an ECO van was stopped for security check.

The drugs were found concealed inside the vehicle’s doors and modified fuel tank. The contraband items were being transported from Moreh to Imphal, the Assam Rifles said in a press release on Thursday.

The seized narcotics worth Rs 4.65 crore along with the drug peddlers were handed over to Tengnoupal Police station for further investigation, it added. However, the release did not mention the number of apprehended drug peddlers.
