Security measures ahead of Independence Day in Imphal

Imphal: As a part of precautionary measures ahead of upcoming Independence Day celebration, a team of district commando Imphal West conducted a surprise cordon and search operation in Imphal area on Thursday evening.

The search operation was conducted at Pratap talkies opposite road of Paona Bazaar side covering Fashion Point area, Polo ground and Kristina hotel area from 5 pm to 5.30 pm.

During the search operation around 157 individuals were verified however, among them 7 persons who failed to produce identification certificate were detained and handed over to City police station for further verification.

On Wednesday, similar operation was conducted at Kasturi stretch covering areas Ngarigali, Boragali and Dharmsala 8n Imphal city by teams of Imphal West Police commando from 4:30pm to 5:05pm.

Around 160 individual persons were verified. Seven persons were picked up and handed over to City police station for further verification.
