Three drug peddlers arrested with 2 kg opium

Imphal: A team of Manipur’s Kakching district police commando along with lady constables seized 2.18 kg of Opium and arrested three drug peddlers including two women along Indo-Myanmar Sugnu road at Moltichan village near Serou Lamkhai on Monday evening.
The arrested persons have been identified as one Ngaineichong Guite, 33, wife of Thangkholal Guite of Phoilen, Hoikhoneng Haokip, 65, wife of Haokholet Haokip of Phaiphengko and Thangkholal Guite, 36, son of Thongkhopao Guite of Phollen, all belonged to Chandel district.
The commando team nabbed them during frisking and checking at the tri-junction of Moltichan village.
During the activity one four wheeler (TUV 300) black in colour bearing registration number MN-01AK 2294 was seen coming from Serou side driven by a male with two female occupants, a police report said.
After identifying them, the occupants were body searched during which two polythene packets were found around her belly waist wrapped with a waist belt. On opening it packets mark as “Nestle Everyday” suspected to be Opium were found, it added.
They were arrested at the spot and seized the items along with the cash Rs 3,65,300, it said.
