Two RPF/PLA cadres arrested with arms and ammunitions


Imphal: A team of special commando unit, Khabeisoi, Imphal arrested two cadres of proscribed underground outfit RPF/PLA from Senjam Chirang Mayai Leikai and Senjam Khunou Imphal West along with arms and ammunitions on Wednesday.

The arrested persons have been identified as one Thoudam Bisharup Meitei, 39, son of late Th. Thoiba Mangang of Senjam Chirang Mayai Leikai, Imphal West and Usham Sarat Singh, 47, son of U. Gandha of Senjam Khunou, Imphal West.

As preventive measures taken in connection with the upcoming Independence Day celebration an information was received from Asssam Rifles regarding presence of some suspected persons loitering at with an intention to conduct anti-social activities like extortion, kidnapping to the general public at the area of Pheidinga Imphal West along with one small arms. Acting on the information a team of special commando unit, Khabeisoi rushed to the area and started frisking and checking in the area. The villagers informed the team that the said people moved towards the area of Senjam Chirang. Immediately the team moved to the area of Senjam Chirang and conducted cordon and searched operation of selective houses in the suspected area at Senjam Chirang Mayai Leikai and Senjam Khunou, a police report said.

During the operation Bisharup and Sarat were detained. On questioning Sarat revealed that he was a member of proscribed underground outfit KCP and later he worked for RPF/PLA as a recruiting agent. He further disclosed that he along with Bisharup recruited three persons from Senjam Chirang, Senjam Khunou and Mekola area earlier.

On checking the detainees, one small arm (steel in colour) carried by Th Bisharup Meitei without registration number with 75 live rounds and one magazine along with three mobile phone were found from his possession, the report said.

Sarat revealed that he is an active cadre of RPF/PLA. He disclosed that he joined the outfit in 2000 through one Uchingou Corporal of RPF and got basic military training at GHQ (Myanmar). He revealed that by using the small arm, collected money from the general public and businessmen for the banned organization. At present he is working under the command of one Colonel Dilip Leisemba of Kongba Khunou of the banned organization RPF/PLA, it added.

They were arrested at the spot and handed over to Sekmai Police station along with the seizures for further necessary legal action.
