KNLA cadre arrested

Imphal: Khabeisoi special commando unit of Manipur Police arrested an active cadre of Kuki National Liberation Army (KNLA) from Thongnambonbi in Imphal West on Wednesday.

The militant was apprehended during preventive measure of upcoming Independence Day.

A police report said at around 6:10 pm a specific input was received from 16th Assam Rifle regarding presence of one suspected person in the area of Jiri parking in Imphal city.

The police team rushed to the area and detained one person who identified as Hendavida, 35, son of Lunkham of Torbung Churachandpur district.

He disclosed that he is an active cadre of (KNLA) who worked under the command of one Angamkhogin Kipgen and Tinthang Haokip of the organisation. So, he was arrested from Thongnambonbi Imphal West at 6:20 pm and one mobile phone was seized and one black wallet containing a sum of Rs 2020 was found from his possession, the police report said.

By observing proper formalities and handed over to City PS Imphal West for further necessary action, it added.
