Minister Awangbow inspects Sekmai river banks

Imphal: Water resource and relief and disaster management Awangbow Newmai on Friday checked the vulnerable river bank of Sekmai river in and around Kakching and WangjingTentha areas along with MLAs LeishiyoKeishing, M.Rameshwar Singh, and Paonam Brojen Singh.

Awangbow told reporters that the ministerial team noted the critical areas of the Sekmai river. He said a solution to avoid flooding during the rainy season is being studied.

A project is being taken up and the project is in its initial stage, he added.

He said to ease the woes of the people a spot verification is checked along with the ministerial team.

A team of engineer will be sent as soon as possible at the critical area, he added.

The ministerial team was accompanied by additional chief engineer (flood) Y. Homendro Singh, water resources department SE Shahid and other officials of the department.
