Drugs, fake Rs 500 notes recovered in Manipur, 3 arrested


Imphal: Special teams of Imphal East District Police of Manipur with the support of Youth Athletic Development Association (YADA) on Wednesday recovered different brands of drugs and fake Rs 500 notes from Urup Kangthak, Imphal East, Manipur.

Three persons indulged in the racket have been arrested and handed to Irilbung Police station.

They were identified as Taslima, 25, wife of Md. Sabir Ali of Urup Kangthak, Md. Bocha, 33, son of late Md. Ali of Kiyamgei Makha Leikai and Umar, 24, son of Md. Jalal of Keirao.

According to a police report, the special police teams and the YADA volunteers, based on a reliable information of selling illegal drugs by one woman in one house located at Urup Kangthak, under the supervision of SP M. Pradip Singh and the command of ASP Kh. Herojit Singh, rushed to the said house and searched at about 5: 30 am. In that Taslima was apprehended from her residence along with five soap cases containing suspected Heroin powder, 3970 WY tablets and one Redmi Smart phone. All the soap cases found containing 60 gm of suspected Heroin powder in total (including the transparent polythene).

Twenty-six bundles and 89 numbers of Rs 500 fake currency notes,101 numbers of 500 fake currency notes’ uncut sheets and three packets of empty plastic vials were recovered, the report said.

From the disclosure of Taslima, Bocha was nabbed along with one soap case and 144 SP capsules from his residence at 6:30 am. Umar was nabbed along with one laptop and one printer from his shop located at Keirao Litan Makhong at 6:50 am, it added.
