‘3,480 teachers will not take salary calculated under new head of account’


Imphal: All Integrated Teachers’ Association, Manipur has announced that 3,480 teachers under the association will not take monthly salary if it is to be calculated with a new head of accounts.

President N. Prakashchandra Singh made the announcement to media on Friday at Manipur Press Club, here.

He said 3,480 teachers were appointed under SSA and RMSA however, under phasewise from 2011 to 2016 the said teachers were given regularisation under department of education (S) by the state government.

Since the regularisation the teachers have been suffering on untimely monthly salary despite they have been discharging their duty as other government school teachers, he added.

The state Cabinet on January 24, 2020 had taken a decision to take their service count from their respective initial appointment and to absorb them under department of education (S) as regular teachers. The state government also issued an order to re-designate the 3,480 teachers as similar post to that of other government school teachers, he said.

Despite the previous government orders, one new order was issued on August 12 mentioning that, the 3,480 which were appointed under SSA and RMSA will have a separate new account head for their pay and allowance. “The association will not cooperate with the new order,” he said.

He questioned how an order issued under the approval of a state Cabinet meeting can supress with an interim order issued by a director. He appealed chief minister N. Biren Singh to look into the matter.

Education minister Th. Basanta Kumar assured the members of the association during a meeting held on Friday at his office chamber that he will discuss the matter with the concerned director and commissioner immediately, Prakashchandra said.

He appealed the concerned director, CFO, ZEO and DDO not to send any fund proposal and fund allocation.
