15-year old judoka Linthoi makes history

Imphal: Manipur’s Linthoi Chanambam has become the first Indian to win Gold medal at the World Cadet Judo Championship in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The 15-year-old Linthoi is the first Indian judoka to win a medal at any age-group category of the championships.

“Wonderful achievement! Heartiest congratulations and best wishes for her future endeavours,” Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh writes on his Facebook wall.

Linthoi prevailed over Brazil’s Bianca Reis to finish on top of the podium in the women’s 57kg contest at the Arena Hotel Hills.
