Union minister Virendra visits Chandel


Imphal: Union minister for social justice and empowerment Dr Virendra Kumar on Monday visited Chandel district to review projects being taken up under the “Aspirational Districts Programme”.

The minister held a review meeting with different district-level officers at the conference hall of DC complex Chandel.

The meeting started with Chandel deputy commissioner Mayanglambam Rajkumar, elucidating all the developmental works being taken up under the “Aspirational District Programme” through a power-point presentation.

During the meeting the Union minister said under the leadership of the Prime Minister, NITI Ayog has been taking up various developmental programmes for the North East India and the central government is giving top priorities in the development of health and education sectors.

The minister while interacting with various district level officers inquired about the various schemes and projects being taken up by the respective departments and also offered suggestions for the successful implementation of the programmes. He also suggested that a dedicated team should be set up to monitor the different development parameters in the district.

After the meeting the union minister visited the District Hospital, Chandel and interacted with the doctors, healthcare workers, beneficiaries and also inspected the various developmental works taken, like the oxygen plan and other facilities in the hospitals.

The union minister lauded the efforts of the staffs, in providing excellent service to the people of the district and urged them to carry forward their good works.

He also visited Lamphou Pasna village and various other villages and checked the developmental works taken up under the Jal Jeevan Mission by the government and also interacted with the villagers.
