Teachers decide to take 2-day  mass casual leave over pay


Imphal: Teachers under the umbrella of All Integrated Teachers Association, Manipur (AITAM) on Tuesday decided to take two days mass casual leave from Wednesday condemning alleged divide and rule policy among teachers under education (s).

A notification issued by the teachers association served to the teachers mentioned that they are being victimized repeatedly by the department though they have been working heart and soul to bring a better and prosperous education system in Manipur.

It said they were integrated into the department of education (S) after a long struggle for their legitimate right and now using the divide and rule policy, the department had issued an letter on August 23.

“We are being pushed back in the condition we were before the integration. Adding fuel to the burning fire, another order along with annexure segregabng teachers as department and Samagra of the department was issued, even though we are no longer Samagra teachers after the integration,” it added.

The very order for a separate Head of Account for 3480 teachers who were integrated to the department on July 23, 2020 seems only a interim pacifier for ‘our long struggle and it seems we again have to nse to chaRenge the confusing and vague order of separate head of account for us’, it said.

After a minute discussion with all the executive members of AITAM,  the association said, they are left with no other choice but to come out to the street like before to protect their legitimate right.

“So, as the first course a democratic agitation, condemning the order to change the salary head of account, all the 3480 teachers shall take mass casual leave for two days,” the notification said.
