Khelen Thokchom Trust organises media workshop on HIV, AIDS prevention Act at Senapati

Imphal: Manipur as on September 2021 there are 27138 HIV positive persons registered in HIV Care, out of which 13457 are alive and on ART,  Ksh. Deepak, state TI coordinator, (Manipur State AIDSControlSociety) MACS said during a one-day Media Workshop on newly adopted HIV and AIDS (Prevention & Control) Act 2017 organised at Mao/Poumai Catholic Community Hall, Senapati district on Wednesday.

Deepak asked the media participants to make people aware of ART in saving lives. He said the increase in injecting drug among youths in state is threat in controlling the Infectious disease.

According to MACS official report as on September 2021, the number of deaths due to HIV/AIDS is 7878.

The workshop was organised by Khelen Thokchom Trust (KTT) with the support of Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS). The workshop was last held at Ukhrul district on Wednesday. The same was last organised in Ukhrul district on September 4.

Trustee and president of KTT Robert Sapam ; Phanjoubam Lanngamba, Asst. director IEC and Mainstreaming, MACS; Omajit Leishangthem, IEC and Mainstreaming; and Peter Adani, president, Manipur Hill Journalists’ Union were present amid the journalists working in the district.

Deepak talked on the topic “Basics of HIV & AIDS”, Omajit talked on ” HIV & AIDS (Prevention & Control) Act 2017″ and Lanngamba talked on “Media Ethics on HIV & AIDS reporting”.
