Joykisan says it was a mistake he left BJP in 2016


Imphal: “After elected on BJP ticket in 2016 by-election, it was my mistake that I left the party,” JD (U) MLA who recently joined BJP with four others said during reception ceremony of five JD(U) elected MLAs along with state JD(U) office bearers held at state Bharatiya Janata Party head office, here on Saturday.

Joykisan said at the time he left BJP due to some misunderstanding with the BJP leaders he did not return to the party even if wanted.

After elected as people’s representative in 2022 Manipur Legislative Assembly election, he was called by the BJP party central leaders to return to the party he said. As it is the right time to save the territorial integrity of Manipur with political power and with the reason he along with the JD(U) elected MLAs unanimously decided to join BJP, he added.

The four others were Thangjam Arunkumar of Wangkhei Constituency, Achab Uddin of Jiribam Constituency, Ngursanglur Sanate of Tipaimukh Constituency and LM Khaute of Churachandpur Constituency.

“We join the BJP party unconditionally but as to work as a warrior of BJP,” Joykisan said.

JD(U) elected MLA, Abdul Nasir who is yet to merge is out of station as he had been engaging for health checked up of his father.

Joykisan assured that the newly joined MLAs will be working to bring development of the party under the leadership of chief minister N. Biren Singh and state BJP president A. Sharda Devi.

Biren said while bringing development the government need more income and to bring the state into a better economic condition people need to support the activities carried by the government for a better economy.

During the election campaign of 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, BJP had claimed that in the election BJP will be winning with 40 seats. The calculation of seats were done after counting the JD(U) MLAs, however, there were some misunderstanding while giving party tickets. But now BJP is going to reach 40 seats, he added.

Biren appreciated the five MLAs that they merged with BJP unconditionally and from now on the newly merged MLAs along with the office bearers of JD(U) its workers will be considered as ‘karya kartas’ of BJP and will work together for the development of the party, Biren said.

Sharda said since 2017 with the coming of BJP led government, various unique developments had been witnessed by the state. The state government’s “Go to Hills”, “Go to Village”, health card and others have been benefitting the people with the coming of BJP led government.

She said BJP has been working with the motto “party with a difference”. Under the motto central leaders frequently visited Manipur in order to aware the ground level reality instead of bringing development in ‘paper works’.

Sharda appreciated the JD(U) elected MLAs and other office bearers and workers on joining the BJP party. She wished the newly joined members to work with cooperation in order to strengthen the BJP political party.
