President requested to inaugurate Manipur Sangai Festival

Imphal: The state government has sent a request letter to President Droupadi Murmu to inaugurate the upcoming Sangai Festival, chief minister N. Biren Singh said on Wednesday.
Biren was talking to reporters on the sideline of launching cum demonstration of 11 fire tender vehicle held at Khuman Lampak, main gate parking, Imphal East.
Responding to media, Biren said after 2 years gap on suspension to organise Sangai Festival due to Covid pandemic the state government is planning to organise the upcoming Sangai Festival with a grand function.
The government is planning to fix main venue for the function at ethnic park, Moirang Khunou which is projected to complete construction by October end. The venue will be distributed at different places of the state including Hapta Kangjeibung in order to reduce the congestion and for the feasibility of public and tourist, Biren said.
In the coming celebration the state government will also be inviting some foreign delegates to participate the festival. The government is targeting more than around 10 lakh people as turn out, he added.
Biren while responding to media, said regarding the demands of schedule tribe status in the state, the government will take necessary steps after considering a legitimate solution that could suit for the entire community. The government will be doing at its level best for the welfare of the people, he added.
