Assam Rifles foils cross border smuggling


​Imphal: Somsai Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) foiled cross border smuggling of contrabands in Senapati district on Monday.

​Based on credible intelligence, a vehicle check post was established at Ngari Wonphrou Village which intercepted suspicious movement of five trucks loaded with some suspicious items.

​On thorough search, contraband items to include black peepers and spices were recovered. The recovered items were assessed to be worth Rs 2.75 crore, the Assam Rifles said.

​The recovered items have been handed over to Tadubi Police station, Senapati district for further investigation, it added.
