Assam Rifles foils cross border smuggling

Imphal: Somsai Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) foiled cross border smuggling of contrabands in Senapati district on Monday.
Based on credible intelligence, a vehicle check post was established at Ngari Wonphrou Village which intercepted suspicious movement of five trucks loaded with some suspicious items.
On thorough search, contraband items to include black peepers and spices were recovered. The recovered items were assessed to be worth Rs 2.75 crore, the Assam Rifles said.
The recovered items have been handed over to Tadubi Police station, Senapati district for further investigation, it added.
