Illegal arms dealer nabbed in Manipur

Imphal: Imphal East commando unit of Manipur Police on Wednesday nabbed an illegal arms dealer at Yairipok Singa near Oil pump, Thoubal district.

The arms dealer was identified as Md. Farooque alias Deepak, 46, son of Md. Abdul Latif of Yairipok Singa.

He fell in police hand when teams of the commando unit conducted a random frisking and checking to the suspected passersby at Yairipok Singa.

One .32 pistol, marked as ‘ 765 MM, Mt 018, CAL 04321, RKT, No. 04321’  loaded with seven live rounds in the magazine and one mobile phone were seized from his possession at 7:50 am, a police report said.

The arrested person along with the seized items was being handed over to Yairipok Police station  for taking up necessary legal action against him, it added.
