No arms used during drive against drug: BJYM


Imphal: President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Imphal Central district, Prem Keshtrimayum said BJYM has been taking initiatives to support ‘War on Drugs 2.0’ and no arms were used by BJYM volunteers during any drive against drugs.

Speaking to reporters at state BJP office, here on Thursday, Prem said on Friday last a team of BJYM volunteers along with a state police personnel conducted a drive as a part of ‘War on Drugs 2.0’ at Laikot village, Kangpokpi district. During the drive one drug peddler was detained. From the source of the detainee the BJYM volunteers along with state police tried to nab the drug supplier.

When the team reached K Orphanage village the detainee tried to escape from their custody towards a nearby hill. Meanwhile two gun shots were heard and when they rushed to the spot the detainee was found with bullet injury, he added.

Prem said during the whole anti-drug related drive conducted by BJYM volunteers the volunteers never used any sort of arms. He said the allegation against BJYM by Laikot Area Youth Organisation is baseless and it was propagated to defame BJYM.

He said he is ready to go behind bars if the allegation made by Laikot Area Youth Organisation is true.
