LOWA demands action against special class contractor for sub-standard work

Imphal: Luangmai (Simbuutlwang) Land Ownership’s Welfare Association (LOWA), Noney sub-division, Noney district has appealed social welfare minister Heikham Dingo Singh to take necessary action against a special class contractor for incompletion of construction work after withdrawal of Rs 70 lakh.
A press release, signed by chairman of LOWA, Gailung Gangmei, stated that LOWA deeply deplored that sad state of affairs on the part of the sub-standard work site for the ITI, Noney and the ill fated project which cannot be accepted by the government and the public.
It said special class contractor, MTDC, W. Ratan Kumar Singh has withdrawn Rs 70 lakh of the project cost of Rs 5,01,05,337 on July 1 last year and it has been over a year (15 months) that even the work of foundation remains at standstill without progress.
The amount released for foundation and infrastructures development cannot be allowed to be neglected for so long lest the time bound work of the project for 18 months is being lasped soon as it has been 15 months but there is is no work progress, it added.
Zealiangrong Students’ Union also visited the site and found unfit and substandard as reported to the minister concerned, it said and demanded that the concerned contractor be removed from this work and another contractor who is fit and honest should be entrusted.
LOWA appealed minister Dingo Singh to take necessary action against the said special class contractor. The association will launched agitation if the concerned authority failes to fulfill the demand at the earliest, LOWA said.
