Blast at Senapati CMO office condemned

Imphal: Manipur health minister Sapam Ranjan has strongly condemned the blast triggered at the office of chief medical officer (CMO), Senapati on Friday.
“Don’t let repeat such uncivilised incident,” the minister said.
Ranjan was addressing at the observation of International Day of Older Person, 2022 held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Imphal East on Saturday.
The bomb blast incident was occurred at around 9 pm of the day. It was suspected to be hurled by some unknown miscreants.
The office of CMO, Senapati, Psokreho Psoze is located at the southern side of Senapati Police station about a distance of 700 metre.
The exploded bomb might be an improvised explosive device, says police.
The CMO office is a construction with galvanised zinc and wooden wall. During the incident no individual was inside the office including the caretaker of the office.
Some furniture, wooden wall were damaged, however, no causality was reported.
In connection with the incident a case has been registered at Senapati police station for further investigation.
Minister Ranjan said hospital is a place where treatment is done equally irrespective of any individuals. “Those miscreants who attack at the CMO office might need medical assistance at any movement. Where will they go for treatment if no such healthcare facility is available in the area?”
The miscreants might have dissatisfaction. However, attacking at a healthcare is an act of uncivilised behaviour, he added.
The minister appealed the people not to repeat similar incident in the future not only in Manipur but also across the world as doctor, nurses and other healthcare workers are serving people.
The health director has visited the blast site and it is fortunate that there was no causality, he said.
