Plea to prevent tobacco sale in close proximity of educational institutions, offices

Imphal: Thoubal district deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subhash Singh has appealed to the concern departments and law enforcing authority to take up concrete measures to prevent the sale of tobacco products in close proximity of schools’, college campus as well as in offices.

The administrative officer made the appeal on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day observation held at the district DC complex on Thursday. The observation was organised by District Health Society Thoubal.

Subhash said tobacco is one of the leading causes of health problems. To prevent such health hazardous food products, giving awareness and strict enforcement of fines and penalties will be more effective in tackling the issue.

The theme of World No Tobacco day 2022 is “Tobacco :Threat to our Environment”. It highlights that tobacco pollutes the environment and damage the health of people. The deputy commissioner administered a pledge ‘not to use or consume any of the tobacco products’.

PowerPoint presentation on the harmful effects of tobacco consumption were presented to give awarness.

The program was attended by SP Thoubal Jogeshchandra Haobijam, CMO Thoubal Dr Y.Nokul Singh, Dr S Bimola kumari and MS District Hospital,Thoubal Dr Ch. Memcha Devi .
