Rs 6 crore worth WY recovered in Manipur

Imphal: Officers of Anti-Smuggling Unit, Customs Division, Imphal, has recovered 60,000 Amphetamine tablets marked WY (World is Yours) from the possession of a person near Kwakta Bazar, Bishnupur district, Manipur on Saturday.

The Customs Division deputy commissioner Keerthishri S on Monday said the drug was recovered acting on the basis of a specific information.

The drug trafficker was identified as Mangjagou, 35, son of Veikim, resident of Tuinuphai, Tehsil-Sangaikot, Churuchandpur district.

The recovered drugs were seized at the Customs Divisional Office, Imphal. The contraband drugs is estimated at Rs 6 crore in the international market. The accused has also been arrested under relevant section of the NDPS Act, 1985, the deputy commissioner said in a press release.

Further investigation to nab the other offender(s) of the case is going on, he added.
