Smuggler nabbed with Heroin

Imphal: Manipur Police commando, Kakching has seized 606 gm of Heroin powder and nabbed a drug trafficker during an operation at Pallel Maning Leikai at around on Sunday evening.

The arrested person was identified as one Akhup Lamkang, 60, son of late Wangtoi Lamkang of Sibong Khudengthabi, Tengnoupal district, presently staying at Thamnapokpi, Chandel district.

He was nabbed during an operation in which Akhup was detained.

After he disclosed his identity the commando team detected two soap cases containing suspected Heroin powder from his possession.

He was interrogated and he revealed that he has concealed another 46 similar soap cases at his residence located at Thamnapokpi. The commando immediately raid at the residence of Akhup after informing police control room of Chandel district and seized 46 soap cases suspected to be containing heroin powder, a police report said.

The powder was found to weigh around 606 grams in total.

The arrested person along with the seizures has been taken to Kakching Police station for further necessary legal action on the same day, the report said.
