48 immigrants arrested in Manipur, Biren warns officials
Imphal: At least 48 illegal immigrants have booked from Kakching and Imphal East districts of Manipur on Wednesday as the state government began statewide drive against illegal immigration.
“Found insincerities amongst the communities living in Manipur by sheltering and giving fake Aadhar Cards to illegal immigrants. This is the biggest threat to our State,” chief minister N. Biren Singh writes on his Facebook post.
“Today, at Kakching PS jurisdiction, 14 persons suspected to be Bangladeshi muslims without valid ILP were detected and have been booked. Similarly, 10 violaters were also detected by Pallel PS and a separate FIR was registered against them,” he said.
Another 24 persons suspected to be Bangladeshi Muslims/Rohingya Myanmaris were also picked up from Imphal East. They all will be produced before the court tomorrow, he added.
All officials who are involved in issuing such ILP cards will be severely dealt with, the chief minister warns.
“We have started a Statewide Drive to root out this menace and will continue till we achieve our goal. I humbly request my beloved Citizens of the State to cooperate in this fight against the illegal immigrants,” he said.
