Senior citizens, PwDs assessment camp at Ukhrul

Ukhrul: An assessment camp on Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities(PwDs) for distribution of kits and appliances has been organised by the District Administration of Ukhrul in collaboration with District Disability & Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC), District Social Welfare, District Health Society, Ukhrul and Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India(ALIMCO) which is under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India at DRDA Hall, on Monday.
A total of 300 persons out of which 203 Senior Citizens and 67 PWDs attended the assessment camp to avail the facilities. The visiting doctors from Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) based in Guwahati checked up the beneficiaries in person to which they will be provided according to the report later on. Tri – Cycle, Wheel Chair, Cerebral Palsy Chair, Elbow Crutch, Walking Stick, Hearing Aid, Power Glass, Smart Cane, Smart Phone, Mixed Kit etc. were some of the items beneficiaries will recieve.
The Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul Krishna Kumar who had initiated the camp is scheduled to hold two more camps in the district one in Awang Kasom for Chingai & Jessami Block on 18th and Zalenbung on 20th for LM Block in this month. The camp is taken up under Rastriya Vayoshree Yojana(RVY) and ADIP Scheme, Government of India.
