Active member of KCP (Noyon) arrested

Imphal: Manipur Police has apprehended one 67 years old person, an active member of the outfit KCP (Noyon), from Takhel, Imphal-East district on Tuesday night.

The person was identified as Naorem Joykumar Singh son of late N. Mani Singh of Sagolband Moirang Leikrak, Imphal West.

He was apprehended by commandos, Imphal-East Unit from Takhel near Thumbi Chingkhong at 11:45 pm during a random search operation at Takhel and its neighbouring villages.

The arrestee is presently working under the command of one self-styled deputy finance secretary, Bobby of KCP (Noyon) and involved in the extortion of a huge amount of money from the general public, private firm government offices for raising their party funds, a police report said.

Recently, on the instruction of the said Mr. Bobby of KCP (Noyon), on September 24 he along with one of his associate Naobi from Khurai went to a residence of an officer of Manipur Forest department at Nagamapal and made monetary demand for raising their party fund, it added.

The arrestee is involved in the extortion of money  at various oil pumps particularly NRL oil pumps, nationalised banks, government offices and private firms located at Imphal area on the command and instruction of Bobby, the report said.

One mobile phone along with one Jio SIM card and one scooter (Hero Pleasure), bearing registration number MN-01F/8399 were seized from his possession.

The arrested person along with the seized items was being handed over to Lamali Police station for taking up further necessary legal procedures against him, the police report said.
