1.150 kg Heroin seized from passenger bus in Manipur, two arrested

Imphal: A team of district commando, Bishnupur seized around 1.150 kg of Heroin powder, worth over Rs 3 crore in local market, from a passenger bus at Leimaram Lamkhai along NH-150 (Tiddim Road) and arrested two persons on Saturday.
The arrested persons have been identified as one Siekminlal Suktung (driver) son of Dalgou Suktung from Khousabung, Churachandpur district and Kapsuanlian (assistant driver) son of late Nengkhanthang P from Kamdou Veng of the same district.
The district commando team along with a team fo Nambol police station under the supervision of superintendent of police, Bishnupur, N Herojit Singh intercepted a passenger bus bearing registration number MN01 1938 at Leimaram Lamkhai along Tiddim Road. On checking the bus cabin area, 87 soap cases suspected to be containing Heroin powder were detected, a police report said.
The duo disclosed that the soap cases contained Heroin powder and were taken from Churachandpur which is to be transported to Shillong for selling to prospective buyers, it added.
The 87 soap cases were seized. The powder weighed around 1.150 kg without the weight of soap cases. The seized items were sealed by observing necessary formalities in presence of an independent witness as well as executive magistrate at around 1.15 pm of the same day, it said.
The driver and the assistant driver were arrested on the spot. They along with the seizures were handed over to Nambol police station for further necessary action, the report said.
