Assam Rifles seizes drugs worth Rs 2 crore

Imphal: ​Modi Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) seized narcotics from Duthang village, Chandel District on Saturday.

​Based on specific input regarding move of narcotics items near Duthang village, troops of Assam Rifles launched an operation. AR troops observed suspicious movement of two individuals carrying bag, who on being challenged, fled in the thick forest.

​On thorough search of the forest, troops of Assam Rifles recovered a black bag containing WY tablets in four plastic bundles weighing 4.280 kg and brown sugar weighing 154 gm approximately. The seized narcotics assessed to be worth Rs 2.31 crore in the international market, the Assam Rifles said.

​The recovered narcotics items were handed over to Tengnoupal Police station for further investigation, it added.
