Students run for Unity

Imphal: The District Administration, Churachandpur on Monday observed the Rastriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) at mini-secretariat campus, Churachandpur to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Rastriya Ekta Diwas is observed with an aim to foster and reinforce the dedication of the people to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and security of the nation by re-enforcing the value of a strong and united India.

Several unity runs from different colleges and schools of Churachandpur, taking of pledge to dedicate oneself to preserving the unity, integrity, and security of the nation and also strive hard to spread this message among one’s fellow countrymen and formation of the human chain to show and to maintain the spirit of ‘Unity in Diversity among the people marked the observation.

As part of the programme, Sharath Chandra Arroju, deputy commissioner, district level officers, students and other participants paid floral tribute to the portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the unifier of Modern India at Mini-Secretariat premises in the morning.

As part of the observance, the Ukhrul District Administration has organised a ‘Unity run’ from DC Office complex to Ukhrul Higher Secondary School and back to the same as part of the 75000 Unity Run across the India, therafter floral tribute was given to the national freedom fighter Sardar Valabh Bhai Patel.

DC of Ukhrul Krishna Kumar participated in the run afterwhich a pledge was read by all the participants of the run. The pledge was read to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation and also strive hard to spread this message which was invisioned by Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.

Krishna Kumar said the nation building process is still going on where each and every citizen has a part to take. Mentioning few areas like social, legal, health and connectivity infrastructures, he said the responsibility to preserve in the process for the benifit of the future is very important.

The event was held in collaboration with the ZEO and DYASO. School children from Ukhrul Higher Secondary School and Model High School participated in the run. In addition, all the district level officers and their staff took part in the event.
