Six cops injured at Dingku Road clash, 19 arrested

Imphal: At least six Manipur Police personnel were injured during a clash occurred between two groups at Dingku road, Imphal, at around 10.30 pm on Monday.

The cops were injured while controlling the incident. Nineteen persons were arrested.

According to police the two groups were engaged in a group fight at, Dingku road near ISBT.

To control the situation a team of Imphal Police station rushed to the spot. However it was unable to control the situation. To control the group fight police took up the mob dispersal procedure and fired tear gas shell and mock bombs.

Some of them in the clash pelted stones towards the police personnel. Later the situation was made under control.

Of the six injured cops one was injured at his nasal bone.

Officer-in-charge, Imphal police station, N. Ingocha said the injured police personnel are undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity. Hospital authority advised that the police personnel who was injured at his nasal needs surgery, to be conducted on Wednesday.

He appealed the people not to create communal tension among the communities.

A case has been registered at Imphal Police station in connection with the incident. The arrested persons were remanded for four days police custody after they were produced before respective court for further investigation.
