Meeting held to strengthen implementation of PC & PNDT rules in Manipur

Imphal: To strengthen the implementation of the PC and PNDT Act/Rules in Manipur, Health and Family Welfare minister Dr S. Ranjan Singh has convened State Supervisory Board (SSB), PC and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Act meeting.
The meeting was held at the conference hall of the Directorate of Family Welfare, here on Wednesday.
The PC and PNDT Act was enacted by the Indian Parliament to prevent female foeticide in the country resulting from gender discrimination.
The meeting deliberated upon the various steps to prevent gender discrimination and female foeticide and to improve sex ratio in the state.
Further the scheme was discussed on the implementation of gender based violence and medico legal care for survivors of sextual violence under PC and PNDT programme.
The meeting was attended by additional chief secretary (Health and Family Welfare) V. Vumlunmang, Law commissioner Nungshitombi Devi, RIMS director, state Health Services director, SMD, NHM Manipur and others.
