Rhythms of Manipur Enthralls Japanese Audience

Imphal: The 14- member team of the Rhythms of Manipur back home on Wednesday after successful week long tour to Kyoto ancient city of Japan in connection with the first India Matsuri Kyoto 2022 Festival October 29 and 30.

The Rhythms of Manipur troop presented the national award winning music composition Dancing Drummers, Maibi Jagoi,Thougal Jagoi, Pung Chollom and Dhol Chollom and enthralled the Japanese audience as well as the Indian and tourists.

The festival organised by the Indian Chember of Commerce, Japan in association with the Consul General of India, Osaka, Kobe was inaugurated by Daisaku Kadokawa Mayor of Kyoto, Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, president of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Consul General of India, Osaka-Kobe Nikhilesh Giri and Secretary Indian Chamber of Commerce Shitoru Roy. It was featured with dance, music and Yoga performances performed by Indian and Japanese artistes. Food and handicrafts stalls were also opened at the Festival held at Umekoji Park, Kyoto.

The renowned designer Robert Naorem designed and sponsored the costumes of the artists of Dancing Drummers team at the festival.

The tour to Japan is the 7th International tour of Rhythms of Manipur.

The Rhythms of Manipur expressed its gratitude to the governor of Manipur La. Ganeshan, chief minister N.Biren Singh, ministers L.Sushildro Meitei, Dr S. Ranjan, Y. Khemchand, MLAs R.K.Imo Singh, Kh.Raghumani Singh, Th.Arunkumar Singh and social worker Maheshswor Thounoujam for extending financial help for the tour.
