Tenant verification mandatory at Kakching of Manipur to prevent illegal immigrants

Imphal: All house owners and lessors under Kakching district of Manipur are required to mandatorily get tenant verification done from concerned Police station, said an order issued by the Kakching district magistrate on Friday ‘with immediate effect’.
The order was issued following instances of illegal immigrants in various parts of the state that has been continuously detected and apprehended by state police and other related machineries.
In recent times there has been detection and violation of Manipur ILP guidelines and many arrested in different parts of the state during ILP verification drive. The steps for identification of illegal migrants and also to check the use of wrongfully obtained Indian documents including Aadhaar cards, voter cards, driving licences, ration cards, ILPs, is needed, the order said.
The order was issued in exercise of the powers conferred under Sub-section 2 of Section 144 of Cr.P.C. 1973.
The district magistrate requested the superintendent of police, Kakching to ensure verification of all the houses, guest houses and hotels in Kakching which house tenants and guests and also to check genuineness of the Identity documents.
