Three from Manipur receive Florence Nightingale Award

Imphal: Three nursing professionals from Manipur among 51 received Florence Nightingale Award for the year 2021 on Monday at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

President of India, Droupadi Murmu presented the award.

Thaimei Sanahanbi, ANM, PHC Keirao Makting in Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife category, Wairokpam Hemabati, Female Health Supervisor, Lilong PHC received the award in Lady Health Visitor category; and Takhellambam Helena Devi, Nurse, Health and Wellness Centre, Phubala in nurse category. Their contribution and dedication during Covid pandemic were recognised.

Dr. Elsa Sanatombi Devi, Manipal College of Nursing, Karnataka

Another Manipur native who works as nurse, Dr Elsa Sanatombi Devi, Nurse, Manipal College of Nursing, Karnataka received the award. She was recognised for her serve to Covid patients through online. Sanatombi is also a writer.

National Florence Nightingale Award was constituted in 1973 by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Government of India as a mark of recognition for the meritorious services rendered by nurses and nursing professional to the society.
