Manipur Sangai Festival 2022 official theme song “Manipur” launched

Imphal: Chief minister N. Biren Singh launched the Manipur Sangai Festival 2022 official theme song titled “Manipur” at his secretariat, here on Tuesday.

The theme song is sung by the state’s renowned folk singer Mangka Mayanglambam and her team.

The Sangai festival is a beautiful festival, which could be brought up to international level if wide publicity is given. After a gap of two years, this time, the festival is being planned to organise in a bigger way, with various events organised at 13 venues across the state, Biren said.

Stating that a large cultural exchange programme would be organised at Makhel as a part of the festival, Biren informed that the people of Ahom and Nagaland would be invited to attend the festival.

Arrangements are also being made to organised events at Behiang and Khuga and other places apart from the main venue at the Sangai Ethnic Park, Moirang Khunou at the periphery of the habitat of Sangai, he added.

Apart from the Manipur Polo International Tournament, the Sagol Kangjei game would also be held at the Manung Kangjeibung at Kangla where players will wear the traditional attire as a historic event, he said.

Appreciating Mangka and her team for coming up with the beautiful Sangai festival theme song, he informed that the video for the theme song would also be launched soon. He appealed to the media persons to give wide publicity of the theme song in order to attract tourists.

The launching programme was also attended by Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba, chairman, Tourism Corporation of Manipur Ltd. Karam Shyam, commissioner (Tourism) P.K. Jha, director (Tourism) W. Ibohal and Mangka among others.
