Two Treasury staff arrested over bribery

Imphal: A team of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Manipur arrested two staff of Imphal Treasury office on Tuesday afternoon for demanding bribes for disbursing monthly pension dues of a pensioner.

The arrested accused persons were Moirangthem Bijoy Kumar, 43,  (Junior Account Assistant of Imphal Treasury office) son of M. Nabachandra Singh of Singjamei Chingamathak, Nameirakpam Leikai, Imphal West district and Lalminthang Lotjem, 57, (Drafty of Imphal Treasury, assistant staff of Military Pensioner) son of Haokhosie Lotjem of Denglen Village, Kangpokpi district posted at Imphal Treasury office.

They were arrested in connection with a case registered at Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Police Station, Manipur for demanding bribes for disbursing monthly pension dues.

The case was registered based on a complaint made by a pensioner to the secretary, Public Grievance Redressal and Anti-Corruption Cell, chief minister’s secretariat, Imphal.

The complaint was referred to the superintendent of police, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Manipur, who, after thorough enquiry into the complaint, registered the case on Tuesday and the two persons were arrested.
