Illegal migrant hiding for 9 years in Manipur arrested

Imphal: An illegal migrant from Telengana who have been hiding for the past nine years without possessing Inner Line Permit by marrying a local girl from Kairang Chingya, Imphal East district was arrested on Thursday.

The migrant was identified as one Rihan Khan, 45, son of late Md Abdulla Khan of Dyancharam, KV, Telengana.

Rihan has been hiding at Kairang Chingya, Imphal East without possessing ILP or any relevant documents, however, by marrying a local girl named as Saniya Choudary, 30, daughter of Fazal Choudary of Kairang Chingya, police said.

Rihan was detected by the police team during a drive on ILP, conducted at Kairang Chingya area. As Rihan failed to produce ILP permit or any relevant document the police team arrested Rihan under section 3 of Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1973.

He was produced before the respective court. The court sentenced Rihan to pay a sum of Rs 1,000 and the concerned investigating officer was instructed to deport him from the state.
