One lakh WY tablets seized in Manipur


Imphal: A team of commando, Imphal East unit seized one lakh tablets marked as WY and arrested a person from eastern side of Lilong Arapti Thongkhong, Imphal East district of Manipur on Thursday.

The arrested person has been identified as one Phundreimayum Abdul Hadee alias Amu, 35, son of late Abdul Gafar Khan of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai, Thoubal district.

Abdul was detained by the team of Imphal East district commando unit during random frisking and checking conducted in connection with the preventive security measures taken up ahead of Sangai Fesitval, 2022 at Lilong Arapti Thongkhong.

He was in a Maruti 800 car, red in colour bearing registration number MN06LA 3217 coming from the western side of Arapti bridge. On checking of the car, the police team detected a gunny bag at the back seat of the car. The team in presence of an executive magistrate and civil witness opened the gunny bag and found 10 brown plastic packets. On opening them another 50 plastic packets blue in colour were found containing WY tablets. Each blue colour plastic contained 50 tablets each marked as WY, police said.

The detected WY tablets, one mobile phone along with two SIM cards and a sum of Rs 360 were also seized from his possession and Abdul was arrested on the spot.

Later, the attested person along with the seizures has been handed over to Irilbung police station.
