Grenade in attack fails to explode

Imphal: A hand grenade hurled by unknown miscreants at View Land Bazaar, Zone-I, Ukhrul district suspected to be targeting at a shop at around 6 pm on Friday failed to explode.

According to a police source, the miscreants seem to be targeting a particular shop.

A team of district police Ukhrul rushed to the spot for spot enquiry. Later, a team of Manipur Police Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad also reached at the spot at around 11.50 pm of the same day and picked the hand grenade safely.

The recovered hand grenade was disposed at a safe place of Kasontang jungle around 4 kilometre away from Ukhrul head quarter at around 12.25 am on Saturday.

No groups had made claim for the responsibility for the attack till the filing of this report. However, police suspect that the bomb attack might relate with extortion.
