Imphal: Two persons who are allegedly involved in issuing fake inner line permit (ILP) pass with forged signature of deputy commissioner, Imphal East, Manipur were arrested on Friday.
The arrested persons have been identified as one Nasim Ali, 24, son of Naris Ali of Yairipok Ningthounai Yambem, Imphal East and Prabir Pal, 43, son of Jagabandu Pal of Uttar Nawabganj Balasi Cooch Behar I Dewanhat Behar, West Bengal.
They were nabbed by a team of Heingang police station acting on a complaint from DC, Imphal East received by the district superintendent of police, mentioning that some people are issuing unauthorised fake ILP with forged signature of DC, Imphal East.
In this connection, a case was registered at Heingang police station. In follow up action of the case a team of Heingang police station detained Prabir Pal. On verification of his ILP pass it was found that his original ILP pass was expired on June 25 this year. However, he was having a new ILP pass having validity till 2023 with a forged signature of DC Imphal East.
On further questioning, Prabir disclosed that he got the fake ILP pass from Nasim. The police team then nabbed Nasim from his residence on the same day.
Nasim revealed the police that he collected Aadhaar cards of non-locals who wanted to get inside the state and who are staying in the state. The Aadhaar cards were sent to Assam and from Assam another unknown person makes fake ILP pass and sent it back to him through WhatsApp and it is printed here in Manipur.
Police say investigation is going on to nab other non-locals who are holding fake ILP pass.
Prabir and Nasim were arrested and remanded for police custody after they were produced before CJM, Imphal East.
