NEP to function at MCU in 2023-24 academic session

Imphal: New Education Policy (NEP), 2020 will be functioning from the academic session of 2023-24 at Manipur University of Culture (MCU), said Manipur Art and Culture commissioner M. Joy Singh on Monday.

Joy was speaking during the inaugural function of 2-days ‘Cultural cum Literary Meet, 2022’ at Chandrakriti Auditorium hall, Palace Compound, Imphal East.

The meet was organised by Manipur University of Culture.

With the theme “Culture is something that binds together”, Manipur University of Culture was established in 2015. Promotion and preservation of various cultures of the ethnic communities of Manipur will bring oneness, the commissioner said.

Regarding the NEP, 2020, 8th academic council has discussed to start functioning NEP, 2020 from academic session 2023-24. The students and faculty members may face some changes in the present system however it mandatory to follow the rules and regulations of the new education policy,he added.

He said the 2-day cultural programme will fulfil the aims and objects of Manipur University of Culture.

Registrar, MCU, L. Radhakanta said organising such programme is needed for the students who are studying in the university in order to demonstrate their performance. In the university the traditional culture of different ethnic communities are taught. In the present society even some of the elderly persons do not have proper knowledge of culture, he added.

He appealed the faculty members of the university to impart much knowledge regarding different culture and tradition of different ethnic communities of Manipur.

Vice chancellor, MUC, P. Gunindro Singh presided over the function.
