Tele MANAS Cell, Manipur launched

Imphal: Manipur Health and IPR minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh has launched State Tele MANAS Cell, Manipur, as a part of the National Tele Mental Health, Programme, on Monday at Dr. Kamal Hall, Department of Psychiatry, RIMS, here.

The necessity of mental health care has been gaining momentum after the pandemic of Covid-19. Awareness on the mental health care has become highly necessary nowadays. Organising awareness programs in the regard will also help the public. Opening of Tele MANAS Cell will really help, the minister said.

Digitization of health care service will help to streamline and improve the health care service in the state. The fast- growing Tele Health Care service has also made it easily accessible to health check-up and treatment, he added.

Ranjan maintained that Covid-19 has affected the world socially and economically. It has given a mental impact to the world. We need to create an atmosphere where there is no stress. Stress may lead to have the tendency of suicide. There have been many such examples earlier, he informed.

Manipur Health Services director Dr Kh. Sasheekumar Mangang, RIMS director Dr L. Ranjit, NHM, Manipur director Dr Somorjit Ningombam, head of department, Psychiatry, RIMS, Prof. Rk. Lenin, officials and staff of Medical Directorate and NHM, Manipur, doctors and others attended the occasion.
